What happened to my plant i burried in my backgarden?

i burried a plant my uncle gave me dont remember what kind and next day i looked it was gone? brothers are denying stealing it so could it have been my cats ? or mabey a fox or Hedgehog ? please help me try figure out what could of happened to my plant ty xxxxxxxxxx
