I just got a pet hedge hog...?

Ok I just got a 6 month old male hedgehog I know that it will take sometime for him to trust me but my concern is scince he is older than most new hedgehog pets will it take him longer to adjust to the new environment? Or ti even like me for that matter? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
